JENNINGS COUCH – SINGLE REVIEW

Jennings Couch – Serotonin
Jennings Couch - Serotonin

Release Date: 13th October 2017

I’ve been back and forth on this track a few times but I think I’m settling on the positive side of the fence after all. ‘Serotonin’ by Jennings Couch mixes the acoustic rock of Brother and Bones with the moodiness of 90s grunge in the vein of Pearl Jam or Smashing Pumpkins and that makes for a powerful start. Throw in a great guitar hook, a pumping bass line and the kind of chorus that it’s easy to sing along too and you’ve got a winner of a tune. Wrap all of this up in the package of Jennings Couch – an Anglo-American eccentric who looks like an extra from the Lostboys – and it’s hard not to love it but the literal translation of the lyrics in to the video leaves a slightly sour after-taste in the mouth. Like Grapefruit.
