THE DARKNESS – SINGLE REVIEW

The Darkness – All The Pretty Girls (Cooking Vinyl)
The Darkness - All The Pretty Girls

Release Date: Out Now

Ah, the Darkness. The most Marmite of all the rock bands. Some love the shtick and some hate the histrionics. Me, I’ve always been thoroughly neutral to Marmite, I can take it or leave it and I’m the same with Darkness. This comeback single (let’s call it a comeback), ‘All The Pretty Girls’, is vintage Darkness with the falsetto vocals, big guitars, overtly sexual lyrics and a smattering of accents in the delivery. A pumping rhythm section, a chugging guitar line and the kind of rock’n’roll vocals that are sorely lacking in the world these days. Love them or hate them, the Darkness are at least prepared to unbutton their shirts to the waist, put a foot on a monitor and rock out with their collective cock out and that’s not to be sneezed or sniffed at these days. We need rock stars right now.
