SEAFOAM GREEN – SINGLE REVIEW

Seafoam Green – Down The River (Mellowtone Records)
Seafoam Green - Down The River

Release Date: Out Now

There’s something that feels a little back to front about getting some Americana sent over from Dublin but then there’s been enough Irish music that’s come out of America so it kind of redresses the balance I guess. Dubliner Seafoam Green (no relation to Cee Lo) has infused this track with some real, gritty rock’n’roll, a good spoonful of soul and a little gospel and as ‘Down The River’ rolls up and down the guitar neck it’s hard not to get involved. Think Lynyrd Skynyrd mixed with a little Free and a bit of Joe Cocker and you’re on the right track. There’s real power and real drive here but most importantly there’s a genuinely authentic feel about the way those gritty vocals and grizzly vocals duel to create something you can’t help but love. Throw in a great solo and some funky organ and you’ve got yourself a cracking tune to turn up load when the summer evenings roll around.
