CLOCKWORK NOISE - SINGLE REVIEW

Clockwork Noise - The Tourists

Happy New Year! Right, now that's out of the way, let's get back to business. The business of 2014 is the same as the business of 2013, finding new music and, like it or loathe it, telling you all about it. First up for the year are Irish quintet Clockwork Noise and their atmospheric single 'The Tourists' which comes creeping in like a misty morning in wet valley. The deep, grinding Cello that pervades the song gets in to your soul like, only to be punctuated but loud, rambunctious bursts of drums in a way that Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro do so well. By the time 'The Tourists' hits full stride, there is a beautiful blend of strings, pounding drums and churning guitars that spirals in to a crescendo of epic proportions. Clockwork Noise have a distinctly Celtic sound about them but they stay on the modern side of things without slipping in to Clannad territory. Which is nice.
