Andy Quick's new single 'Ninety Nine' is a romping, stomping list of rules to live by which is both exhilerating and social crushing in almost equal measure. The driving beat is the relentless pace of modern life, the guitars chug with brilliantly pent up energy and Quick's vocal delivery is breathless - as you might expect for a man who spends the majority of the video on a treadmill. There are elements of Jake Morley, the Levellers and Frank Turner but the main influence here is life and its various, unending and often contradictory rules. It's a crazy old world out there.
